CURRENT PROGRAMS

DOMESTIC ABUSE-INTERVETNION AND PREVENTION PROGRAM

DA-IPP is a batterer’s intervention program designed to prevent and end domestic abuse and intimate partner violence in our community. The program is 24-weeks and follows a structured curriculum. DA-IPP groups focus on understanding domestic abuse/intimate partner violence, as well as developing personal accountability, awareness for problematic beliefs and patterns of thinking, teaching relationship and communication skills, and teaching emotion-regulation/coping skills.

The program draws from the Duluth model and incorporates a socio-behavioral framework for understanding community violence, including factors such as gender roles, culture/ethnicity, race, gender identity, sexual identity, age, socioeconomic status, substance use, current and past mental health disturbances, beliefs about law enforcement and government, community safety, and media/entertainment. The program is open for anyone to attend, however most participants are referred from Minnesota Department of Corrections or Itasca County probation.

Participants attend 24 weekly one-hour groups. Group size ranges from 5-7 participants. Participants pay $20 per group. The program is held each Wednesday from 8:30-9:30am, 4:30-5:30pm and 5:30-6:30pm at the Itasca County Courthouse in room J135.
